Sala Riquela opened its doors in 2016 in what used to be a shoe store in the historic center of Santiago de Compostela since the 1930s. Martín Calviño, the founder, comes from a family linked to the restaurant business, which he combined with his career as a music promoter, creating both modalities in one place that fills the gap of small/medium-sized cultural spaces in the city. In addition to the musical component, Sala Riquela regularly hosts film festivals and cycles, has a weekly theater program and works as a space for photography exhibitions and music collections.
